Coaching High Performers to Better Results

Ralph has been a leader responsible for people, budgets, results and the bottom-line. His experience, education, skills, and sense of humor make him uniquely qualified as an executive coach and organizational change consultant. His expertise includes leadership development and team effectiveness. Over the 40 years of his career, Ralph has responded successfully to increasing challenge and opportunity.

As of January 2001, Ralph returned to his independent consulting practice after a five year hiatus as a senior executive with a global, billion dollar, 8000 employee business and information technology consulting firm, American Management Systems (AMS).

Ralph joined AMS in 1996 as a Senior Consultant in the Financial Industries Group where he established an Organization Development and Change Management practice. In 1998 he was promoted to Vice President to work with the AMS Chairman and top management to focus on identifying and developing AMS's future business leaders. In 1999, he was named Chief Learning Officer for the company and provided effective leadership by creating AMS University, which served as the focal point for all career development and learning at AMS.

His work as a consultant and business advisor began in the mid-sixties working in the private sector in Colombia, South America. After receiving his first Masters degree, he became an Associate Director of the Peace Corps in Costa Rica where he led 60 young American Volunteers. He returned to Washington, DC to become Chief of Programs and Training for all of Central America.

After a brief tenure as head of marketing operations for a small agricultural business, Ralph joined an international consulting firm where he held a variety of positions over a 7 year period as a Vice President: director of projects and marketing for Latin America; head of marketing world-wide; Director of Organization Development and Personnel; and as a management consultant. During that period, Ralph earned his second Masters degree in Human Resource and Organization Development.

In 1982, Ralph established his own management and organizational change consulting firm that he grew and ran successfully for 14 years. He worked with senior and mid-level managers of a diverse set of organizations in both the public and private sector domestically and internationally.

Among his clients were:

In many of those assignments Ralph focused on coaching, leadership development, team effectiveness, and organizational change. During that time Ralph also designed and developed leadership, management, and supervisory courses for business and government professionals and for Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, and American Universities where he was an adjunct faculty member.

Ralph lives in No. Virginia with his wife, also an organizational change consultant. Other than work "as fun and excitement," Ralph's "fun" time is spent with friends, family, traveling, indulging in gourmet cooking and discovering reasonably priced/high quality wine. He is an avid bird watcher and eclectic music afficionado. He recently became a partner in a new vineyard/winery, La Grange, near Gainesville, VA. Being fluent in Spanish, he looks for opportunities to use the skill socially and professionally.
